Three years into practice I accepted my first PI patient. I had absolutely no clue of what I was supposed to do. I had heard that I needed to do more of an exam. As I worked on improving my narratives, I came to a painful reality. I had a logistics problem.
If I have to write a narrative that won't be challenged in court, I have to put hours into making the report flawless. Hours! I reached a point that I started to become resentful to new patients. They took away from my ability to treat, and they interfered with the back office of running a successful PI practice. What's worse, is the quality of the narratives AND care started to fall apart on me. I was failing my patients and the paperwork was the sole reason why!
